The native WorkoutGen iOS app is finalized and will be available on the App Store very soon. This is the recommended way for iPhone users: one-tap login with your Apple account, reliable reminder notifications, subscriptions managed directly by Apple, and automatic updates. Once it's released, the download link will appear here and on workoutgen.app.

Is it Safe to Install WorkoutGen?

Installing WorkoutGen is completely safe, no matter which method you choose. On iPhone, the iOS app will come through the App Store, with Apple's validation. On other devices, the web version uses Progressive Web App technology, a standard feature built directly into trusted browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge. The same technology powers web apps for major platforms like Spotify, Uber, and Pinterest.

Here's what the web version means for your device:

  • No files to download: Installation simply adds the app to your home screen, without managing accounts or accepting extra permissions.
  • Secure by default: WorkoutGen loads exclusively via HTTPS, using the same encrypted connection as secure banking sites.
  • Automatic updates: Improvements and new features load automatically without requiring manual updates.
  • Easy removal: You can uninstall the app anytime by holding down the icon and selecting delete.
  • Multi-device compatibility: The same account works everywhere, phone, tablet, and computer, and will also work with the iOS app.

Troubleshooting Common Installation Issues

If you can't find the install option, use these decision rules to fix the problem:

  • Are you using an in-app browser? If you opened the link from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or Gmail, the in-app browser will hide installation menus. Tap the browser options icon and select Open in Browser to load the page in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android) before installing.
  • Is the Add to Home Screen option missing on iOS? Scroll to the bottom of the Safari share sheet, tap Edit Actions, and make sure the option is enabled.
  • Are you using an older iPhone? Make sure your device is updated to iOS 16.4 or later to support installation from third-party browsers like Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Otherwise, use Safari.

Once installed, tap the WorkoutGen icon on your home screen to launch your program. You can access this guide anytime in the app by going to Settings, selecting Tutorials, then tapping How to Install the App.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the App Store or Google Play to install WorkoutGen?

No. WorkoutGen is a Progressive Web App, meaning you install it directly from your web browser. Open my.workoutgen.app, then use your browser's install button, menu, or the Add to Home Screen option. Nothing is downloaded from an app store.

Is it safe to install WorkoutGen as a web app?

Yes. A Progressive Web App uses the same secure technology built into Chrome, Safari, and Edge. There is nothing to download from a store, no extra permissions to accept, it loads exclusively over HTTPS, and it updates automatically. You are adding a secure shortcut, not installing unknown software, and you can delete it like any other app.

What is a Progressive Web App (PWA)?

A Progressive Web App, or PWA, is a website that you can install like an application. It runs in a secure, isolated part of your browser, opens in full screen from your home screen, and updates automatically. Major platforms like Spotify, Uber, and Pinterest offer installable web apps. WorkoutGen is a PWA, giving you an app-like experience without needing an app store.

Why do I not see an install button on my iPhone?

This is normal. iPhones do not display automatic installation prompts. You must tap the Share button, select Add to Home Screen, and then tap Add. If the option is hidden, tap Edit Actions at the bottom of the share sheet to enable it.
